Fi Stevens, naked, in a heavy steel five-cuff hogshackle. A perfect
premise for a photoset all by itself. Restrained Elegance's regular style is very
glossy and glam, low ISO, middling-to-large depth of field and a very smooth,
grain-free photographic result. Every so often though I like to get down and
dirty and shoot something "against the grain" - or in this case, with bags of
it. I orginally intended to print it in black and white, but as is so often the
case I couldn't quite bring myself to do so, not once I saw how the raw and
atmospheric lighting made Fi's glorious red hair look as if it were actually on
fire.
One of my favourite things about my job is the ability to go where the
ideas take me. There is a "Restrained Elegance look" which is the way it is
because that's usually how I picture the images in my mind's eye. One
update a day is a heavy workload, no doubt about it, but one of the biggest
benefits is the freedom of being able to do something a bit different, too.
