All the villages dreaded the Prince coming to visit. His roving eye, his roving hands, his predilection for spearing the most delicious morsels behind the stables given the slightest encouragement. Fathers locked up their daughters whenever he was rumoured to be doing his rounds.

Of course, not all the girls were so averse to the idea of being plucked by a Prince! All manner of subterfuges were perpetrated to drop hints to the amorous artistocrat. A favour careless dropped in the dirt by dairy door indicating the voluptuous virgin prisoned within by her paternal protector... a song sung into the sunset when the sound of his voice passed by.
